Known locally as “the Zoo,” this is a smaller, more intimate experience than a big-city zoo, which is exactly what makes it work well for families staying with us on a Gulf Shores trip. It’s compact enough to see properly in two to three hours, with close-up animal encounters and keeper talks that feel a lot more personal than standing behind a rope at a distance.
It’s mostly outdoors with some shaded and covered areas, so a morning visit before the day heats up tends to be the most comfortable option in peak summer. Check the day’s schedule at the entrance for keeper talks and any animal encounter add-ons, these are the moments guests tend to remember most, and they’re not always running back-to-back.
It’s a nice change of pace from a full beach day, and a good option if you’ve got a mix of ages in your group who all want to see something new without a long drive. It’s just a few minutes from most of our Gulf Shores properties, making it an easy half-day add to a beach-focused stay.
