The Flora-Bama Lounge, Package & Oyster Bar is the honky-tonk landmark that sits right on the Alabama-Florida state line, a weathered beach shack with a house band stage, an oyster bar, and a reputation that goes back to 1964. It’s the kind of place that shows up on “must visit” lists for the whole Gulf Coast, and it’s an easy add-on for guests staying in our Orange Beach and Gulf Shores homes who want one loud, unforgettable night out.
Live music runs most days of the week across several stages, from the open-air Main Bar to the Bama Yard out back, and the crowd skews friendly and unpretentious, flip-flops and sandy feet welcome. There’s no cover most nights for the main bar, though bigger touring acts and the annual Interstate Mullet Toss (held right on the beach behind the bar every spring) can bring bigger crowds and, occasionally, a cover charge. It’s a 21-and-up scene after dark, so plan accordingly if you’re bringing the whole family, daytime hours are more relaxed and kid-friendly.
Parking fills up fast on weekends and during events, so we usually tell guests to arrive by late afternoon if they want a spot near the beach side, or to plan on a short walk from overflow lots. It pairs naturally with a seafood dinner at Original Oyster House earlier in the day, then a stroll down for sunset and live music, one of the more memorable nights you can build into a Gulf Shores or Orange Beach stay.
