Lake Eola Park is downtown Orlando’s green centerpiece, a 43-acre park wrapped around a spring-fed lake with a mile-long walking path, a fountain that lights up after dark, and the city skyline reflecting off the water. For guests staying with us who want a break from the theme parks, it’s a genuinely local way to spend a few hours, more Orlando neighborhood than tourist attraction.
The paved path around the lake is flat and easy, well suited to a morning walk, a jog, or just a slow loop with the kids, and swan-shaped paddle boats are available to rent if you want to get out on the water yourself. The park also hosts a Sunday farmers market and regular events at the Walt Disney Amphitheater on the lake’s west side, so it’s worth checking what’s on before you go. Early morning and evening are the most comfortable times to visit in warmer months, and the fountain show after sunset is one of the better free things to do in the city.
There’s no entrance fee, and street parking or nearby garages serve the park, though downtown can get busy on event nights. It’s about a 20 to 30 minute drive from most Orlando-area vacation homes in our collection, making it an easy add-on to a parks trip when you want a change of pace, or a quiet evening walk to close out a busy day.
