The Orlando Science Center is one of the more reliable rainy-day plans for guests staying with us in the Orlando area, especially if a park day gets rained out and you’d rather not stand in line in a poncho. It’s a four-story museum built for exactly this kind of visit, with hands-on physics and science exhibits, live animal habitats, a planetarium, and the CineDome large-format theater, all fully indoors and air-conditioned.
Admission is a single ticket covering the permanent exhibit floors, with the planetarium shows and CineDome films bookable separately for a small add-on, worth checking the daily schedule online before you go so you can time your visit around a show you actually want to see. Most families spend three to four hours here comfortably, which makes it a solid full-morning or full-afternoon plan rather than a quick stop.
It sits in the Loch Haven Park area a short drive from International Drive, convenient to most of our Orlando rentals, and it skips the theme-park-level crowds and pricing while still giving kids plenty to touch, climb on, and ask questions about.
