The Hangout

The Hangout is as close to a Gulf Shores institution as it gets, a big, lively, right-on-the-beach restaurant and bar with a stage that hosts live music most days, an indoor rope-climbing structure and games for kids, and a menu that runs from Gulf seafood to burgers to a serious Sunday brunch.

It’s a genuinely good fit for mixed groups: kids can burn energy in the play area while the adults grab a drink at the bar, and everyone reconvenes for dinner with their toes practically in the sand. Live music typically kicks off in the afternoon and runs into the evening, so it leans lively rather than quiet, go for the vibe, not a peaceful dinner for two.

It gets busy, especially at sunset and on weekends, so arrive a little early if you want a table with a water view without a long wait. It’s right on the Gulf Shores public beach, an easy walk or short drive from most of our beachfront properties, and a reliable one-stop evening for food, drinks, and entertainment in one place.
