For a change of pace from the theme parks, The Wheel is an easy, low-effort way to see Orlando from somewhere other than a roller coaster queue. At 400 feet, the enclosed, climate-controlled capsules climb high enough to take in the skyline, the distant fireworks from the parks on a clear night, and, on the best days, a real sense of just how flat and sprawling Central Florida actually is.
It’s inside ICON Park on International Drive, surrounded by restaurants, mini-golf, and other attractions, so it’s easy to build a whole low-key evening around it rather than treating it as a quick stop. Go around sunset if you can time it, you get the daylight view on the way up and the lit-up skyline by the time you’re coming back down.
Each rotation takes about 20 minutes, which makes it a manageable activity even with younger kids or after a long park day when nobody has the energy for anything more strenuous. It’s roughly 20–30 minutes from our Kissimmee and Davenport homes, and a nice way to close out an evening on I-Drive.
